Even the CEO of Goldman Sachs is tweeting at Donald Trump—and he never tweets

Good first tweet.
Good first tweet.

Lloyd Blankfein joined Twitter in 2011, but he took his sweet time before sending that first tweet.

The Goldman Sachs CEO waited for the perfect moment yesterday—aka six years later—when he tweeted to criticize President Donald Trump's decision to abandon the Paris Climate Agreement. The climate agreement bound every country on the planet, besides Syria, Nicaragua, and now the United States, to work to fight climate change.

It's not just like Blankfein is an inactive Twitter member. As the CEO of a multi-billion-dollar investment bank, Blankfein's words have consequences, and he treads cautiously.

Blankfein did oppose Trump's travel ban in January and he supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign.

His deputy, though, left Goldman Sachs to serve as an economic advisor to the Trump administration.
