Weeks before festival-goers departed on the disastrous misadventure that was Fyre Fest, there were already signs that it might not exactly live up to the uber-Coachella luxury vacation they were promised.
That's according to several thousand leaked emails reportedly leaked to Mic this week that show woefully underprepared executives of the embattled event company scrambling to book last-minute toilets, food, and housing to accommodate their guests.
"We have to move fast on this or we are in a really shitty place, lol," one organizer wrote in an email after realizing that it would be much more expensive to set up toilet facilities on the remote island than they had initially thought.
"Ultimately its your call, but please consider the backlash of nasty bathrooms and showers,” she said.
That alarm was sounded in an email with the ominous all-caps subject line, "RED FLAG- BATHROOMS/ SHOWER SHIPPING."
It was ultimately determined that the bathrooms would cost the company upwards of $400,000 for the 2,500 people expected to visit the island.
Another employee joked that the similar lack of preparation on the dining front would render bathrooms unnecessary.
"No one is eating so therefore no one is pooping," the staffer wrote.
The sloppy, last-minute effort was of course evident when vacationers who paid upwards of $1,500 per ticket arrived at the island to find that the luxury music experience they were promised was little more than a group of what appeared to be disaster relief tents and some bare-bones rations.
Federal law enforcement revealed last month that they had opened an investigation into the apparent scam.
Fyre Media did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
